I have read, on the site, that an 11 Watt Charger is sufficient for general use. How big is this panel and where do you mount it...? I know this will anger many true sailors but will the charger allow for stereo operation? Is a specific battery required?

Charger

I don't mount mine it just sits on the deck in a sunny spot all week while my boat is parked in the yard. I think it is about 15" by 30" We use a portable radio so I do not know about running a stereo.

The Mast Crutch

Hi I have a 23.5, very similar to your 240. I have mounted a 10 watt Siemens panel on top of the mast crutch and it works great. This panel is about 12 inches wide by 14 inches long. Siemens sells packages called Marine Power Kits and this is the smallest one. I modified a fishing rod holder to fasten it to the top of the crutch. In retrospect though, I believe that one of the Ram ball mounts (available through West Marine for arount $30.00) would have been a better solution. I just installed it this winter, but it seems to be working great with bilge pump, a few instruments and lights as the load. Let me know if I can help further. Alan Long dalanlong@cs.com
