Hi. Just joined and just about have posession of an 1979 11.0A with an alcohol stove which I think was pretty std. I'd like to convert to propane so I'm looking for ideas for tank storage. Planning on two five gal tanks. thanks

used alcohol stove and oven for many years and love......and no danger of explosion. I am sure you know the dangers of propane and having lines run to an outside area/cockpit locker. A lot of work. Why not CNG?

I've actually found an enclosed propane locker with regulator/valve etc that might fit in the cockpit locker. Problem is venting which I haven't figured out as I don't have possession of the boat until next week. I've never liked alcohol because if you have a fire issue, alcohol can actually spread the fire and it's not that hot. As for explosion, if you do it right, there shouldn't be a problem. I've had propane on three other boats in the last 20 yrs. I'm also planning several yrs down the road as we'll probably go to Alaska in several yrs. CNG is not widely available in out of the way places.
