Sorry for the delayed response...life gets in the way. How honored I am to have the legend, Crazy Dave, offer counsel.
The standard mast crutch at the stern of the Hunter 240 is where I am considering attaching one solar panel to the very top, just below the bracket for mast when lowered. It appears the height would be out of the way of entering/exiting the walk through transom. My concerns are mostly related to added weight, and strength of the mounting method of this vertical pole. A pv panel here would be very convenient to running wiring to the batteries in the back. Your thoughts?
I am also giving consideration to a small Honda generator placed in the cockpit as counseled by another poster. Any experience with these on such a small boat?
If you have the model and number with manufacturer, I will look it up to see and what style connections can be made. do you have one or a two battery system and where located. I am having a brain fart on location for the time being. .
The Honda portable generator was a good unit. However, I would never store it in the cabin nor the gas either. I would store the gas in a vented area somewhere in the cockpit gas locker. Can you send me a photo of the cockpit to refresh my memory.
I merely am trying to help sailors only and do not need any respect other than being a crazy.
Are you asking for the model of the PV panel? I haven't bought one yet. If you are asking about the boat, it is a 2002 Hunter 240. I have two batteries: a starter and a house battery located on the starboard side, just behind the privacy curtain behind the rear berth. As to respect, I will always greatly value those with experience and willingness to share...THANKS!
