I purchased the Simrad HLD350 for my Beneteau Oceanis 400and having a difficult time trying to figure out how best to mount the drive unit. There is so little room around the rudder post and no clear opening to install the rudder arm to the ram.
First I tried to locate a mounting area starboard side going through the access in the quarter berth. Space is limited and the HLD 350 must be mounted with the tank up.
Second I tried locating the HLD 350 in the starboard stern cockpit locker. Looks like I will have to relocate the exhaust hoses and the gusher bilge pump and loose access to that compartment.

I rebuilt the mount for our Raymarine 2000 two years ago. It is a three piece stainless mount setup. The top is what the actuator bolts to, and the L shaped side mounts have slots milled in them and thru bolt to the top. Important! Thru bolt the side mounts (use some caulk) on the locker and swim locker bulkheads. Build it tough. 3/8 bolts minimum, 1/4 sheet Stainless. I have two linear bends in the top for strength. I've read you can get 2000 ft pounds of force on that mount. I mounted my position feedback unit on a separate mount and bulkhead( that was part of my problem when I bought the boat).
