Hello,
Hopefully as a non sailor, I will not offend anyone here by asking an electrical related question. I know that Sailors must do things in the correct, competent manner when it comes to making electrical connections!
I have high quality tinned copper wire (1/0 gauge) from the positive battery terminal.....that I am attempting to connect to a 6 mm alternator output stud......I would like to use an ftz heavy duty power lug (1 gauge) 1/4 hole.......
Considering the fact that 1/4 inch = 6.35 mm -- will a 1/4 lug make an adequate electrical (in terms of resistance) connection with a 6 mm copper terminal stud?
THANK YOU!!!

should do just fine, I would make sure that it is clean and use a lock/star washer to keep it from loosening....

I'm no expert, but I don't think you need that heavy gauge wire for just the alternator.

Thank you!
It is what is recommended for a Big Three Upgrade....with a high amp winch, AM lights and stereo.....it is recommended that Alternator Wire to Battery, Engine to Chassis, Chassis to Body, Body to Battery Ground Wires, etc......be upgraded...
>resesitance = >thermal failure

That wire would mainly be sized for the output of the alternator, plus some safety factor. My AO goes to the starter, then to the batteries.
