1.25" track for Asym Spinnaker snatch block

I recently observed a 1.25" track installed on the moulded toe rails of a Catalina 36.

I have a Catalina 310 and have been considering upgrading for an Asym spinnaker.

Would a short track installed like this be acceptable to attach the snatch blocks to? It would not be possible to through bolt with a backing plate.

I have very limited experience with spinnaker handling.

track question...

you don't need to install additional track just for that. Locate your spinnaker sheet lead block as far aft as possible. Attach it to a simple padeye. Then build yourself a set of "twings" or "tweakers" that control the sheets' lead angle and position. A use these for my setup, http://www.layline.com/product/3703/496 an 1/8 inch control line runs through a small bullet block shackled or tied to the existing track or a stanchion base, to a small clam cleat in a handy location.
