There is a guy on ebay selling 1/2 inch smoked acrylic sheets. The ad says to ask him if you want custom sizes. I asked about a 24 x 24 piece for the forward hatch on my 9.2A and he came back at $115. I also asked about thinner stuff for the fixed portlights. Just in case anyone else is interested. I haven't decided what to do, but have other higher priority projects at the moment.:D

Aren't the hatches 3/4"? I would like to replace mine someday. You can cut this stuff on a tablesaw fyi. I'll also get around to replacing the crazed fixed windows.

I need to check...I measured the other dimensions of the hatch the other day and bought one of the custom hatch screens off this site...but I didn't measure the thickness.

I checked and the hatch is 3/4. 1/2 might be good for companionway boards though.

It would be nice to get enough people together to go in on a half sheet and get them fabricated by someone. There is an outfit in CT I found. Even if they would cut it into 2 x 2 squares and round the corners it would make the rest of the work a breeze.

I have been thinking about alternatives to mounting the teak strips with screws. Drilling and tapping all those holes would be a pain, but perhaps the screws self-tap. I thought about using black butyl tape, but it probably wouldn't have any significant holding power on such a smooth surface.

I am definitely making covers for all my ports and hatches and bright work. The hardest thing will be mounting all the snaps, but that pain will be a one time thing. I plan to keep my boat a long time and in the long run it will save me a lot.
