dripping packing gland

Hello, I just noticed that my stuffing box (aka “packing gland”) started leaking with around 1 drop every 12 seconds with the engine off, and 1 drop every 3-5 seconds with it on. I looked at the boat survey from when the last owner bought it, and it seems as if it has not been replaced since 10...

I have a 1978 Ranger 33. Water from the packing gland drips into what I call a pan under the engine. There is no path for the water to make it to the bilge. I have to remove the engine cover and scoop out the water. Does anyone have a safe way to get the water to the bilge? I have already...
