I recently bought a Shock Harbor 25 and I have numerous questions. I would like to contact any Shock Harbor 25 members on this Board

Most issues are not not boat specific. There's a vast knowledge of helpful people on this board. Chances, are someone can help

Thanks for the response
I have many questions but one of my main concerns has to do with the Hoyt boom. On a Harbor 25 the outhaul on this self tenidng boom and the furling line run through a series of blocks in the cabin and come out in the cockpit. It uses a very thin line (3/16) and with all the friction in the system I find it almost impossible to use. Is this typical ?Has anyone developed a workaround?. I have other questions but this my main concern

Doing some reading about the Hoyt Boom, the intent of the designer, Steven Schock, was to expand on the easy-handling, large-cockpit daysailer concept of the Harbor 20 and provide increased interior volume for overnight stays aboard. V-berth, two quarter berths, small galley area, and a head—enough for two or four people overnight, not for extended living aboard.

The Hoyt boom idea is to simplify handling through self-tacking, with all lines running to the cockpit.

I would begin inspecting all of the sheaves and fairleads for potential failure. The goal is to reduce friction. Perhaps lubricating/cleaning the sheave bearings or pins. Replace any broken or groove-worn parts. Sail-Kote is a good lubricating spray.

A 3/16ths line would be difficult to handle. Examine the width of the sheaves to see if they can function with a larger diameter line.

Good Luck. Let us know what you find.

Thank u for your thoughtful answerI checked most of the blocks and they seem good. I will c if I can use a larger line

If you can post images of the line fair leads, blocks, sheaves, and line paths. There my be clues in them to identify the friction issues.
