Self defense as a cruiser

Gee, I never ever gave it a thought. What was I missing? And I cruised for over 20 years in the notoriously dangerous waters of San Francisco Bay between the hardcore crime-ridden City dirt-dwellers and the anchor-outs in Richardson Bay off Sausalito. The crime all around me was horrific, but I managed to survive. I did have my 1957 canoe paddle from summer camp in the 1950s, but I could never remember where I'd stored it.

Ah, the Humanity! I learned once long ago that the only useful cleaning material for spilled red wine is WHITE wine. Try it, I hear it works. I read it on the internet in a boating forum so I know it must be true.

I know what you mean.

This was the result of one dust up I can remember after anchoring out in Montague Harbour for the night :

The rest of the boat didn't look much better :yikes: .

The best cure for spilt red wine is to not allow it on the boat in the first place. We had one crew member for which it was a matter of when - not if - she going to knock over her red wine glass.

I’ve tried opening a bottle of white to clean up a red spill on many occasions and can attest this does not work. At least it didn’t for us as we couldn’t help ourselves sampling the white and realizing once the bottle was empty that we hadn’t dealt with the spilled red .

Just my feeling, why bother sailing in dangerous waters were known incidents abound.

I've always equated San Francisco Bay with the dangers of the Gulf of Arabia. I guess I should've finished my last post with the /s logo, seems you missed the humour. :banghead::)

Hitting a boarder might be the only use one finds for a 9mm wrench.

Truer words of wisdom have never been spoken. Edit - I’d use 24mm or larger
(Wrench sets should come with 2x 10mm instead. I’ve become very good at glancing at a bolt and knowing without a doubt that‘s a 10mm) ;)
