Catalina 250 Carter Lake
I'm looking to buy one of two used Catalina 250's with wing keels, but neither has a trailer. I would like to purchase a good used trailer for a reasonable price, but am having a very difficult time finding one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks, Joe

A good used boat trailer custom for a specific boat will be hard to find. I would look into a new custom trailer. Yes, it's expensive. But you'll get what you need with new tires, hubs, bearings and it will fit and protect your boat. It will open new venues for exploration and do so with minimum problems. It's worth a lot.
If you don't have a local vender Triad in New England would likely be able to make a custom trailer for this boat.

It's an unfortunate fact of life for the trailerable sailboat market that the sails, mast, motor, and trailer typically all cost more to replace than the hull is worth.

So, are you really going to be routinely trailering your new C-25? Are you thinking of frequently traveling to different lakes or, are slips in your area in short supply and you plan to launch your boat and store the boat on the hard between sails? In my opinion and, because I'm getting older I would choose to have a slip or, moor the boat as opposed to raising and lowering the mast with each sail. Having said that, a new trailer is probably your best option and it will increase your boat's resale value down the road.

If you're planning to put her right into a slip, you can rent a cradle and have a delivery service get her to your marina.
