Here's another 356 access question. Some genius installed the (malfunctioning) macerator on my holding tank in the back of the port swim platform locker. Seems like the only access would be inside from the aft cabin. At the back of the aft cabin there is a long horizontal panel held in place by two barrel bolts. Not sure if it gives me the access I need because when I pull the bolts it shifts up and down a fraction but won't come off. Anyone with a 356 know a secret to opening it or getting into the locker from the rear?

At the very bottom of the lazarette against the hull? Yup, that's where mine is. I fold a lifejacket over the edge of that comparment and then dive in head first! I've even had to replace one while underway... If you think that's tricky, my vacuflush pump takes 10 minutes to service but an hour to get to with dissasembly.

Boats are fun right ? :)

I've taken that panel out without much fuss. I think I remember you need to remove the cushions so that you can slide that panel up and move the base out. There is pretty good access when it's removed. It's been a decade since I sold my H356 so I might not remember correctly.
Try using a husky screw driver to manually rotate the macerator motor before replacing. Sometimes they are just gunked up.

Do you recall if it's just the two barrel bolts? When I lift and pull it goes up a bit, but the bottom won't come forward. Thanks.

I think mine had sliding bolts and pretty flimsy at that. The whole panel is, in my mind, decorative. It is not a bulkhead.
