Hi,

I have had problems with my old line knotting in my Furlex Genoa. I would appreciate any recommendations on the size of the needed replacement.
Thanks, John D. from Herrington Harbour South on the Chesapeake.

I would say to figure out the manufacturer and model of the furler - should be on there.

then go to the manufacturers website and they will specify their recommended line size and type.

Measuring the line may not help much as there are can be different characteristics of different kinds of rope in regards to their innate interests in tangling/twisting in different conditions. Which seem to be the issue?

Ask eleven random sailors the answer to a simple question and you will probably get twelve to thirteen different answers?

More datapoints, which is good.

Meanwhile often the manufacturers of equipment specify the types and nature of rope to be used.

I have a similar situation where I decided to be clever and went with a much stronger low-stretch type of furler line a few years ago and although it does not foul, it is more difficult to use at a practical level.

I also switched to a low stretch line to prevent the line from getting caught in the previous layer. Many different opinions on what to use. Each has its advantages
