Removing rubrail After most of the sanding was completed it was time to remove the aftermarket rubrail. There was so much grime under it, it was hard to tell it was actually gelcoat.
I left some screws in several places just to be careful that the top of the sailboat was still screwed to the hull. You never know how long it will be taken apart. I did not expect two months of bad weather. Overall it was a rather quick job once I had the right weather.
About the hardest part of putting the marine caulk into the old rub rail holes was finding the right weather to allow to cure in the months of January and February.
After removing the rub rail there was more sanding, cleaning, and more sanding! The sanding never ends!

O'Day on trailer at time of purchase The boat is in outstanding condition. I could have just dropped it into the water and gone sailing but with it being completely dry, it is the best time to do a complete update.
