I've decided to omit the quarter birth cushions under the cockpit to gain more space for my extra gear storage. That box contains a lot of stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, cotter and rigging pins and etc. It will be easier to get at the gear without that mattress. Plus, I'll get more use of that compartment under that hatch cover.
The table is out of the way when I'm not using the stove. I'll slide the stove to Port when I want to use it or I could leave it where it is.
I have decided to use a single burner Origo 1500 instead of the two burner 3000 that I had been using for years. After changing my galley cabinet over I discovered that my table would no longer swing over the sink without hitting my two burner stove. The single burner stove will allow my table to swing over the sink if I slide the stove to Starboard.
DSC01007 I was in Rudy's shop one day many years ago and he showed me this centerboard pendant line shackle and told me that it would be a better shackle than the one that came with my boat. It has a small spool where the braid line is spliced which cuts down on chafing. I bought the shackle and did the braid splicing myself with the directions in front of me of course.
Last September I removed every piece of wood out of the cabin and stained it with a dark red Mahogany color, and varnished it. I also built some new settee storage compartment covers out of 3/8" plywood. I stained them over the winter and I plan on varnishing them this coming spring.
DSC01039 The new stainless steel Gin Pole in operation. The lowering/raising process can be stopped at anytime or any where. I tied my furler luff with a "Rolling Hitch" to the Gin Pole where you see it. This keeps the luff from flopping around and throwing the mast off balance. It also allows me to do this operation all by myself. The boom vang and the pivot bridles do the rest.
DSC00784 Here's the old Gin Pole. I'm going to hang on to it for a spare, just in case some river pirate decides to inherit my new Gin Pole.
