Maybe seeing metal, rather than the plastic through hulls is more comforting than plastic...although, I've seen some plastic through hulls at West Marine that I was told were Lloyd's of London approved.

GREAT SOLUTION!! Now,here is how you buy for LESS THAN WHOLESALE for your boat (or home fabric). Just visit this nice company and look for anything from thousands of bolts they have right on hand. First, go for a remnant (the smaller, left over rolls in stock), this is how I got a very high quality Sunbrella fabric for just $15/yd.! I'm doing my whole v berth and salon for $300 for the fabric (20 yds approx) plus, add about $800 for high density (a MUST) foam and labor, and for about $1,100 total, Seasters will look, but more importantly SMELL a whole lot better! Thank you for your help Dave & Tonette, you are terrific!

Original 1979 plaid beige. Not the ugliest stuff in the world..just don't take a big whiff of fabric & foam due to diesel odor....the boat was hardly used by the PO and the odors are in all the cushions, mainly the interior cushions with the original fabric (still has Jensen Marine tag on) and who knows how old foam..

holding tank bladder and old hoses...a catastrophe waiting to happen! The bag broke upon removal....:( It's easy to just turn a blind eye and not deal with an unpleasant task. But, I think you'll agree it's far worse to delay what should be done right away!

Another almost new motor mount I think installed with the new engine in 2008. Gotta make sure these babies are taken care of as replacing them is sure not cheap.

Thanks to Roger for making a wonderful bimini that not only does what we want to do (keep the sun off us considerably more), but it looks terrific too! Way to go Roger of Miramar Canvas!

Newer (2008 when new engine was installed) exhaust hose properly double clamped by Vince Balch, VB Engineering, Shelter Island, San Diego, CA. But the other two improperly clamped white plastic through hulls just had to go. The middle one just broke off with a light tug! Not cool.... Glad that happened at the slip!!

Seasters

1979 Cal 31' sloop. White with blue stripe. New Sunbrella powder blue with design cushions. New custom bimini. New, double clamped through hulls with new hoses. New bottom paint with extensive prep about to happen. New holding tank/hoses to replace original (likely) neoprene bladder and crystalizing (likely) original ones; the bag burst upon removal :( Oh, thanks to the PO, a beautifully installed (thanks Vince Balch, VB Marine, San Diego,CA, Yanmar 20 HP engine!), this boat's ready to be sailed regularly!
