I like it that you have raised the mast aft thereby making less stress to heave upright .I will fit a "telescopic" alloy post aft with various pinholes to raise the post and a U tube section on the top with a roller to slide the mast aft . My A frame fastenings will be in line with the mast base athwartships which will give me a longer A frame / more leaverage . The 26 mast is quite heavy so I regard an A frame as essential to steady the mast as it goes up and keep the stresses on the tabernacle to a minimum . I have seen some use a strop under the crosstrees (held up by halyards + retrieval lines) to fasten the "pull up "rope or wire , leaving the forestay/furler free to fasten on more easily . However ,I guess it's "whatever floats your boat " and suits you.
