Yamaha 9.9 HP Questions

I am trying to determine the year for this Y 9.9 based on the plate pictured below. It says "DT9.9C" and "00994 801587". Generally there is another letter after the "C" that determines year but not here. I am thinking it is somewhere between an 1988 and 1994 model year. Is this a short shaft? Also, this motor weights about 65 lbs. Is that a good weight for my Catalina 22? Any other thoughts on motor weight would be appreciated. Thanks. Ed

The manual says that one doesn't need more than a 6hp...(Back in the days of 2 cycles.)
If you're just on an inland lake you don't even need a 6. My 6hp Yamaha is generally running at 1/2 throttle. A long shaft outboard would be better for a sailboat than a short.
