Gasoline fumes are heavier than air and any fuel leak will cause them to flow and concentrate into a low spot in the hull where they can be ignited by a stray spark with explosive results. I'm surprised manufacturers have not come up or be required to have a fan to vent gases outside the hull before the engine can be started. That kid got to learn how an astronaut feels on blast off.
