Whats your favorite anchorage?

hey Grumpy! ;^)

I'm not arguing at all. I said in my first post that I agree that its better on starboard. But that is a recommendation on the protocol. In fact it's perfectly OK for it to be on port, and probably not warranting the dismissive 'tisk tisk'.
Just trying to spice up my morning with a little light-hearted banter b/f meeting the rest of the day.:)

Holbrook Island is just off Castine and depending upon the breeze a quick sail for us from Belfast.

Back to anchorages. Justice Bay on Sand Island in the Apostle Island... 3-sided protection surrounded by sea caves.

Sounds good @Jackdaw, but I suggest the real trick would be to not have to go to work in the morning.
How true! But for us working class dogs, this allows you to stay out any day of the summer. If it looks good, we go to the boat after work, and stay.

Enough with the flag etiquette already! If there's a problem with the flag in this photo, it's still my favorite photo of my favorite anchorage so far!

How did a "favorite anchorage " thread become flag etiquette ??
Agreed! Apparently there’s no good way to place or honor our National Ensign on the H30 without give and take of sailing, boarding, swimming, motoring, steering, interferences. So we just took the flag down. Certainly, don’t want to cheat protocol.

Favorite anchorage is Saba Rock or The Bight in the BVI. Favorite mooring is Anegada.

Ha!

FYI I just talked to the Commodore of the Lake Minnetonka Power Squadron. Perfectly OK anywhere on the transom. And these guys are picky.

One of our favorites is Deshaies, Guadeloupe, FWI. Not for any other reason than across the street from the dinghy dock is the best French Bakery anywhere in the Antilles.
If you have to be in St Thomas, then Honeymoon is about as good as it gets, though it can be a bit crowded and noisy on the week ends and during the Puerto Rican vacations.
We love Port Elizabeth in Admiralty Bay Bequia. Some of the nicest fruit and vegetables available anywhere in the Windwards or Leewards, right across the street from the dinghy dock, but the internet there is atrocious. Overall, the best prices by far on medications anywhere in the islands.
For just sheer beauty, it's a toss up between Sandy Island off Hillsborough and Saltwhistle, but Sandy Island marine park is expensive and Saltwhistle is a madhouse all the time.
But overall, I'd have to say our favorite anchorage between Puerto Rico and Trinidad is White Island, off Carriacou. Though it is the rare day when one can visit, if conditions allow, one should make every effort to visit this off the beaten path anchorage.
End of travel log, sorry.

I guess I should’ve posted pics, instead of being hijacked by flag etiquette.

Here’s a few. The Bight aka Pirates Bight and the Admirals glass bottom inflatable. She won’t snorkel.

and Sandy Spit, an awful Anchorage , but great for a lunch and swim. This itty bitty island was stripped after Irma, now just a navigation hazard but still worth a look.

Need to go to the archives for Anegada and Saba Rock. Images not on this iPad.

Bahama Banks. 10' water, no wind, no waves. Could not see any land or lights, only the spectacular display of stars from the sky and their reflections off the water. So calm, that it seemed unnecessary to drop the anchor. Surreal.

I like Barlow Bay on Lopez Island. Good place to wait ou the rip off Cattle Point, good holding, not crowded, nice walk to store or Iceburg Point, and best of all short walk to Grandma’s house (now owned by my brother) for aa good shower!!!
