Thanks everyone for the new feedback on battens, measurements and the partnership with the designer and satisfaction with Precision. It's a go and I'll call them soon. Truth is we probably won't get out of sight of land very often, but my wife and I have both whitewater (past) and coastal rough water kayaking (current) experience and a Sanibel 18 as our first sailboat. So we enjoy and seek out lumpy water. That said, I think I accept the limits of the 222 and don't intend to do silly things in dicey weather. I just like knowing that my gear can handle surprises. It's exciting to bring the O'day up to potential.
