raw water pump for yanmar 4jh engine

I am trying to find parts for said Johnson raw water pump on yanmar engine on 41DS hunter. Found complete pump for $2000.00 . unbelievable rip off price. also found selection of replacement parts cannot buy bearing separate from shaft. $500.00 for shaft and bearing. various other parts $300.00 anyone know of a less rip off place to get these parts. My pump is working fine no leaks Is a gear driven pump with 2500 hours thought it might be time for rebuild.

take or measure the both bearings, oil seal, o-ring and 2 cir-clips to an auto parts supply shop. Probably cost less than $20 in all. As for the shaft just clean it up.

ok didn't read the "gear driven pump" part. So its fresh water pump. Still auto shop can supply. But if it ain't broken....

old rule-- if it ain't broken don't try to fix a boat part... get the exploded parts diagram from the parts manual, take to a local auto shop. a pump is a pump even if it's sourced by yan mar. PS i have carried around an 'extra ' yan 3jh 4E 'fresh water' aka antifreeze pump for 12 year now (when i thought i'd be sailing to england.) and never needed it once. it sure did not cost 2000$ back then...

@Gunni, it did not occur to me that this may have been a charter boat for some of its history, but yes used in that manner hours are racked up quickly, but surprising number of hours if the boat has been privately owned for all its years, surprising to me anyway.

Just had a smaller Johnson raw water pump from my generator professionally rebuilt for $100.00. Contact Yacht Power Products Inc in St. Petersburg, FL. All it needed was a new seal.
