The smaller Catalina 22 (and the 250) hinges back with the top of the mast towards the stern.
But since I was investigating.....Here's something on a mast raising system. . It's for the Catalina 250 and you have to scroll up to see the concept.

I raise mine with no gin pole. I use the trailer winch and the jib halyard.
I have lines from the sides to keep the mast centered.
