The eye tells you what you want to see? I remember an episode with a true wooden boat snob. He came clambering down the dock to see the boat. Mistaking it for a wooden design, I told him what design it was.Wow, I had no idea there was such a controversy over the construction!
He was perplexed (and not very knowledgable about old boat designs) with what I told him.
But when I said this was Alden's first fiberglass hull and deck, he was suddenly aghast!
He crinkled up his nose as if both the boat and I had suddenly taken on a peculiar smell, and clambered back up the dock.
Funny, actually. Wooden boat snobs are not that common and I suspect they are nouveau wooden boat owners. More knowledgeable wooden boat people understand there are different hull materials, all with their pro's and cons.
And there are fiberglass boat owners equally unknowledgeable about wooden boats. I like them all.
