If looking to buy used, I know that Minney's in Newport Beach (Costa Mesa) sent out a missive about a month ago talking about how they went through their entire inventory of non-self tailing winches, tore them all apart and thoroughly cleaned/lubed them, and was offering deals on matched sets. I don't know if they had Lewmar #6's specifically but now would be a good time to call them.

That's the reason.

Also, the new ones' appearance doesn't match that of the ones already on the boat. The performance is arguably the same. I would prefer to have the boat look like the 'period piece' it already is.
