Installing a new main halyard with in-mast furling

I have a Marlow Hunter 40 with in-mast furling. Last night the loop on the end of the main halyard broke and the halyard came out of the mast. Fortunately the boat was sitting at my dock with the mainsail furled. I am looking for any tips for feeding the new halyard down and pulling it out the slot about 10 feet up from the base of the mast. The boom topping lift runs parallel to the halyard and comes out of the mast about 7 feet up from the base, but I will be using that to get hauled up to the top of the mast. I am also going to put in a new topping lift, but I can attach it to the old one and pull it through without going up the mast. I have some ideas on how to lead the main halyard but am open to suggestions.

I lost my topping lift and used a bicycle chain on the halyard to send it down where needed.
