Actually, I have zero problem with the 5-gallon CARB cans because I do not use them to pour. I use a shaker siphon. It doesn't matter what the spout is like.

I do use smaller old-style cans for dinghies and for the F-24.

I highly recommend going to eBay and finding a new old stock or excellent condition, used, or refurbished metal fuel tank. I did so several years ago. There's even a guy on there who restores old outboard fuel tanks. The nice thing is they are typically no more expensive than a new, OEM plastic tank.
