Speaking of Shackleton there is a great three part documentary on Amazon Prime titled "Chasing Shackleton". A few Brits replicated Shackleton's epic 800 mile journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia in a 22' life boat then traversed the glacier ridden mountain ridge of some 40 miles to reach a whaling station on the north coast of the island.

I saw that when it first came out at a venue where they had replica of his life boat and gear. Pretty amazing achievement without the loss of a single life.
