HI, yesterday I reinstalled the swing keel on my od25 and some 5200 driped out onto a cardboard i was laying on and got stuck to the back of my head! I was'nt aware of it at the time because I was busy putting it back on the trailer. Now it is dry, and feels the equivalent of a piece of chewing gum stuck to my head with hair matted to it.
Does anyone have a miracle removal technique. I don't have much hair left to begin with, but I don't want to shave my head bald. thanks(i hope) Patrick

Just another reason why all boat owners should be required to get a note from their mother before being allowed to purchase 5200.

I haven't used this stuff which is intended for 5200 but it did an amazing job of removing 30 year old, sun baked, boot top striping tape residue.

Probably would remove your hair, or at least curl it, as well.

Laughing.. If you'd used nickel based anti-sieze on the stainless pin, you'd have that other rite of passage fulfilled too.. How to get that out of my clothes and fingernails, boat shoe soles, and my neighbor's dog's hair !! Have fun with the new hairstyle!

Patrick, you didn't! You'll just have to wear your scrubs cap all the time(he is a nurse). Might sail Friday. Can you go?

Aw, c'mon, guys, this is no laughing matter! Every time we suggest that 5200 has absolutely no place on a boat, we are deluged with nay-sayers who claim it's just fine. Those same folks tell us there are plenty of ways to remove it easily and safely.

Hmm, wonder where they are now?

Anyway, it's not on his boat, it's somewhere else on his person.

Shave and a haircut, two bits...

5200 and a swing keel??? I just can't make the connection...

Best and quickest and least expensive way is with a pair of scissors. In two weeks the hair will grow back.

Lots of top challenged ppl wears their topee and gets it blown off in strong gust. I guess you could now recommend they use 5200.

Hi Sailorman,
Sounds as if you may have 5200 bonded to your scalp and reinforced with your hair rather like a fiberglass laminate.
I would suggest an urgent call to Dow Corning.
Have never heard of a solvent for 5200 and certainly none which would not injure your skin.
Just possibly your wife/partner might pick at it with tweezers and scissors - but don't try to pull it off as the skin will come with it. A surgeon might be able to help - preferably one from a nearby reservation.

Keep us briefed because it could happen to others - and give us all another reason to crow!

Difference between a good haircut and a bad one ...

about a week. Why not consider it an accessory?

Just feel lucky it is not stuck to your scalp. If all you have to do is cut your hair, you are living a charmed life.

Bald is beautiful. It's not a bald spot; it's a solar panel for a sex machine

5200 in Hair!

That stuff is brutal. I use it only for the joint between my hull & Keel. Lacquer thinner will take a small amount off your hands, but I wouldnt go dumping it on my head. Consider yourself lucky it is not on your scalp and head for the nearest barber shop
