The North Pole is moving to Siberia

Isn't this polar movement attributable to the wobble that the Earth experiences in its motion?

even if the rockets stay in earth's gravitational field I'd imagine they could have an effect on rotation.
Yes and no. The laws of consternation (EDIT: I definitely wrote: 'conservation', what happened? ) of energy dictate that they will return to normal when the material returns to its normal position. So, while your arms are out, slower spin, when they are back in, speeds back up.

Ah, only 30 feet of wobble every 433 days. The real culprit is way under the surface. Makes sense magnetically.

Is that why my compass is off.
No.

It's only why it doesn't point the same direction as indicated on a chart.

If your compass points somewhere other than to magnetic North, there is another reason.

Purely for the sake of academic discussion - even if the rockets stay in earth's gravitational field I'd imagine they could have an effect on rotation. When a spinning ice skater puts out their arms they slow down, even though the arms are still connected to their body.
If Superman can do it then why not rockets?

But was the Shuttle flying with or against the Earths rotation.
All rockets launched into non-polar orbit use earth’s rotation to help boost them into orbit. The closer to the equator the faster the rocket is already going before launch. Seriously.

My compass does not run on beer. The rest of us, however, it is one of the four major food groups and is not something to be ignored.

This is actually all anyone needs to know. (Oh, my homemade ice cream actually contains all 4 major food groups. At least that’s what I tell my wife.)

I made strawberry ice cream Sunday. Just had some tonight. Peach is next. We always pick our own strawberries locally and buy our peaches straight from the grower. Have y’all ever heard of Mac’s Pride peaches? They’re an hour from us in McBee, SC. That’s pronounced MACbee. Not mcBEE.
