Here's an update to the thread I started some 5 or 6 months ago when I had just gotten rid of my tow vehicle, was on 12 hour night shifts at work but still had the boat bug. I had been thinking of building a scale model C-22 for years and had accumulated enough scrap/junk materials when a trip to the Biloxi Maratime Museum and seeing the models there inspired me to action. From reading replies to the first thread on this subject, there's quite a few sailors out there wanting to do this very thing, if I can give you any advice on how I built this model, don't hesitate to PM or ask me a question. The model is a 1/1 scale built out of a laminated poplar wood blank with various other parts made from brass rod, aluminum tubing, aluminum thermal wire, stainless steel and aluminum sheet metal, dowels, mahogany, oak and sapele wood, old credit cards, straight pins, jewelers wire, hemp thread and paint.....lots of paint. It's not 100% accurate by any means, the hull was shaped by comparing it to the real "Kellie Marie" on her trailer in the back yard. The stand is a mix of leftover mahogany and cherry with a brass name plaque on order.
PS: At the end of October, I purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT with a 5.0 liter V-8 engine and towing package, one week later, the Corps of Engineers and Alabama Power started lowering the lake levels.......
