Mystery on the boat.

Last summer I bought 4 swim noodles to keep on the boat.
One day while out sailing I rescued one out in the middle of the lake giving me a total of 5.
Last weekend while doing my weekly winter inspection I noticed that there are now only 2 swim noodles on my boat. I always keep the boat locked when I'm not there.
Not sure when they went AWOL but for the life of me I can't figure out how the darn things escaped.

Foam swim noodles are known to be cannibalistic.

They have a snake-like appearance, could they have crawled out one of the through-hull openings?

In the spirit of other comments on this board ... What is your boat, the sailing area, the course you were on, and wind conditions? Can you post pictures and detailed sketches of all parts of the cabin, noodles, and associated rigging?

You're not over 65 are you? I am and plenty of things seem to go missing and then suddenly turn up. What are you missing again? I swore I had that yesterday where did it go today?

I'm no Sherlock but you answered your own question. The one you rescued was actually one of three you had lost whilst sailing. My math 4-3=1. 1+1=2.

Afrakes +1 I buy my reading glasses from the 99c store by the dozen every month. Someday 100's of glasses are going to turn up.

Could you come down to the station?

In cases like this we always look at those closest to the victims. You say the noddles went missing? By your own admission weren't you the last person to see the noddles? They were under lock and key you say, and you had the only key. Interesting. Tell me, were you happy with the noddles? Perhaps the new noodle you found was softer and floated better and maybe you wanted the old noodles out of the picture. I think we are going to need some DNA.

I am "that age bracket", and probably the last ten items I "could not find" turned out to be within two feet of me all along.

Maybe the fiberglass worms are looking for something softer to sink their teeth in to, now that they are getting older? But be advised... flesh is softer yet.
