Here it's the boats name and her length.
Ok, mine is fairly obvious I was born and raised in the land of fruits and nuts, but Quadrille how does this explain the name of your boat?

i picked up the nickname in my early years.. during the time i thought i wanted to be a log truck driver.... while hanging around the truck shops, I heard way too many stories and gossip told by the old timers about friends and acquaintances who lost their lives, or limbs, in a truck accident because either the road gave way or they werent paying attention and just ran off the road...
I did drive for several years, but i always remembered the stories and never wanted anything like that to happen to me, so i was always riding the centerline... I wanted to stay as far away from the ditch or canyon that i could. And the nickname was born.
that was all about 30-35 years ago, and i dont hear it much anymore, but I still use it as an email and forum username on all the sites i am a member of.... since 1994 when I got my first computer.

being the young aggressive wanna-be that i was, I feel lucky to have survived it, and now I am considered one of the "old timers", with a bit more common sense and lots of horror stories of my own to scare the the young kids with:D...

I named our boat after the Admiral. Her initials are CI so we named the boat Sea Aye. My initials are PI so the dink is Pea Aye.

In Minnesota the phrase "Explore Minnesota" is used quite frequently. When I signed up for this forum, I had to quick pick a user name so I replaced the explore with sail since I wanted to get out and explore as many lakes as I could by sailing on them. Ironically I do very little sailing in MN but instead Northern WI in the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior. Once we got a taste of cruising, we were hooked. I still own a Force 5 that keeps me humble and allows me to fill any spare time if I get bored.

My first two initials and full last name....... Backwards. Sprega... A. G. Erps. By the way. I too use to ride a 4 stroke 500 single. Mine was an SR500 street bike. I put a "White Bros." Kit in it. It was indeed a bad boy.

shemandr was the domain name I first choose with my first email account. First 4 letters of my last name followed by the first four letters of my first name. I got it off an envelope since the mass mailers had already dubbed me that. It was already out there and I could remember it.

Lance is my actual name, and my O'Day 23 is called Cloud Nine. I named her that as a tribute to the focus my late father put into setting a world speed record in his inboard hydroplane, also called Cloud Nine. It will remain the name of any boat that might ever replace it. Happy Holidays to all of you! - who I have learned so much from. Thank you.

Lance, that is totally awesome! My username is kinda self explanatory. Don't know what I'll do if I move to another state.

Some people here use their legal names, but most of us use an 'nom du guarre' than has particular meaning to us. What's yours?

Mine is the name of the boat I owned when I signed up for several forums, and now I always use it everywhere. For a long time, I've named my boats after birds with attitude. Jackdaw, Kestrel, BlueJ, etc. Like Jackdaw.

What I was, in between sailing stints, when I joined a powerboat forum many years ago.

Also my username on forums unrelated to water.

I was always a "90 pound scrounge" growing up and various people would call me "Slim, Slim-Dilla, Thin Man," etc. even up to today and that's not a bad thing anymore. Since I've been a skeet shooter for the last 20 odd years, it made sense to differentiate myself from all the other "Slims" out there.

PS: Couldn't agree with Kermit more, thanks Phil Herring and Dave Condon, J French, Chris Patterson, CaptDon and all the others who make these forums one of my first stops every time I turn on the computer. I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy yours and everyone else's.

So many great life experiences here; racers, mounties, the many who have served and traveled the world over, our own retired boat dealer, cops, firefighters, woodworkers, techies, doctors, lawyers, etc., I truly feel blessed to count them all as kindred spirits, connected by our love of this ancient craft.
