I have a 1987 Irwin Citation 35 with a 30HP Yanmar (repowered in 2008). When I run at cruising RPMs everything is fine. After I have been out for the day and try to motor into the marina and maneuver at min throttle, the engine stalls when shifting from forward to reverse, or vice versa; this is nerve-wracking and unsafe.
Oddly, I don't seem to notice it leaving the marina... maybe I'm running higher RPM on the way out? I've emptied the tank, replaced the fuel filters, and the pickup tube was cleaned. It even did it on a temporary fuel tank, so I don't think its a fuel issue...
