Wondering if anyone has experienced compression to the deck around the mast, possibly caused by the mast collar being over-tensioned or potentially some other reason. A rigger told me this might be an issue on my boat and I'm interested in hearing if others have seen this and what was done to remedy the situation.

compression to the deck
Whether around a mast or any other part of the deck, should be investigated as a potential damage to the deck structure. Decks (unless solid fiberglass ) are a composite of outer fiberglass skin, a core material (plywood, balsa wood, or foam etc.) and an interior skin (what you see from inside the boat. Water gets into the core and damages the core.

Repair requires rebuilding the core.
