Mast Step

Boat my boat because the deck core was in great shape even though it was a 1976. However, this year I found out the core under the mast step was rotten as observed as the step started to sink a few weeks after stepping. In order to keep the boat in the water, I drilled holes in the step on the mooring and injected Git-Rot and sealed with silicon sealer. Seemed to stop the recession quite well. My question is: What's next? Do I cut out the mast step this winter and replace rotten wood , or should I drill more holes and use more Git-Rot or just leave it alone? Any help appreciated, thanks.

Sine, the Git -Rot won't give it the support you need. The best and the strongest repair would be to cut out the mast step, replace the coring and reglass the area. This might be a very costly solution but it is a long term answer to your problem. An alternative would be to drill a number of holes and fill them with epoxy to strengthen the area. Good luck Cjarlie
