I used this to retrieve steel tools that I dropped over into the drink (not grog) as a former dealer. I gave Warren Luhrs and Frank Butler one of these gems along with my hillbilly mountain ale grog or moonshine as some would say.
it sure can distinguish steel from aluminum cause it will not pick up aluminum unless you ever drank some of my hillbilly mountain ale peach brandy. In fact, Frank asked what to do with my grog which was given to him as a Christmas gift. He called and I told him to cut it seven to one. Did he listen. Heck no!
to make a long story story short, my magnet loves steel but hates aluminum. At my age, I drink Coors Light. Just another reason to be called Crazy Dave
