Can anyone tell me the model of the Lewmar winches on a 1977 Pearson 26. They need to be rebuilt or replaced.

Thanks

To help the forum identify which type and size...........please post a photo, whether self tailing or not, dimensions and application (main sheet, jib sheet, spin sheet, halyard). This link provides a means to identify your Lewmar winch Lewmar Winch Identification (p2marine.com). Once we identify the Lewmar winch type look up the size table like this one for the correct model: ocean-self-tailing-winche-specifications.pdf (d3gpbqyz2aphnw.cloudfront.net). You can also find typical winch size by boat length and application here Winch Selection Guide | Lewmar.

This will help. I will verify when I get up to the boat. From the initial link, it is definitely in the Earlier Standard Winches category. They are jib sheet, not self tailing.

Thanks

When you look down on the top of the winch the older single gear winches had the name and the description.
Here is an example.

This is a #8 Single Speed winch.

Here is another. This is a Single Speed #7

For your boat size and being these are for the jib/Genoa I will venture a SWAG.
If a previous owner (like many of us do when new technology comes out and solves our identified problems) did an upgrade then possibly in the 24/30/40 group.

On the other hand, if the previous owners preserved the boats 1977 OEM build, then the 8/10 for single speed and the 16/25/40 for two speed winches are likely. They both were introduced in 1972 to 1976 period.

Here is a site that will help with the older winch designs.

As this boat is in San Diego, the top of the winches are pretty smooth. I can tell you, they are the original winches.

Thanks
