I don't know who poured the lead keels for the Cherubini-era Hunters, but they were not great castings IMO. They may have been done by Hunter itself. My 1983 keel had little inclusions - traces of rust led me to believe they may have melted down wheel weights - and there was one casting cold joint. None of this really mattered and I faired the keel with epoxy putty and it got barrier coated along with the rest of the hull.

Are you asking because you want to replace a keel? Or just curious? Replacement keels or keels for one-off new builds can be sourced from specialist foundries like Mars Metals.
