I am looking to purchase a yamaha 30 with tall rig. The current owner says that it is cutter rigged. I am wondering if this is really cutter rigged or is the tall rig supposed to have a baby stay ? He has no stay where I think a baby stay whould go. He does have an
additional halyard.
Hi Drakeley (?)
I'm at home, not at the boat but, I have a Y-30 and I believe it's the tall rig.
*I was told that the way to tell was the shrouds .... (oh-oh, gonna get this wrong) ..... 3 shrouds at the chainplates; 1 set to the masthead, 1 set to mid-way between masthead & spreaders, 1 set to just below the spreaders. There is also on the front of the mast, just above the spreaders (1' ?), an adjustable (4 part tackle?) baby stay which attaches to the deck between the two forward hatches.
There are two halyards forward on mine, plus a spinnaker halyard. (One of those might be a pole lift)
Hope that helps.
Great boats!
