I just had a JRC-1000 Radar, Autohelm ST4000+ wheel, Garmin Mapchart 175 installed. Now I want to network them. I also have the Garmin power/data cable which has 11 wires but came with no documentation on what to do with the wires. The marina installed the radar and autohelm and said my fuse box had extra room for the two newunits so they wired them hot. When I turn my battery switches on, the radar and autohelm have power. This is unsatisfactory. I cut out a mounting insert for an additional fusebox and inserted the bare fuse box. I am a novice. How do and where do I interface my instruments and do I use Seatalk and/or NMEA 183? How do I wire the fusebox(it has 5 breaker switches?) Where do I get power to go to it? I also have other ST-50 instruments such as the tri-data, wind instrument, depth, speed over water, water temp which are all Seatalk interfaced. I feellike I have a gazillion ?s and I do *not* want to create an electrical disaster and fry my boat. Thanks in advance! Ron

Ron, Derek Rowell wrote a very nice article about your problem. You can search for it in the Ask all Sailors Forum Archives using his name as search Item. I also posted a detailed article written by my brother in law that may help you. Good luck
