I want to install a pedestal guard on my 84 H31 but I can't read the name of the manufacturer of the pedestal. Does anyone who made them for the 1980's vintage H31's? Thanks. Reg

From my online research I got the impression that Merriman/Yacht Specialties made the pedestals for the H31's in the mid 80's so, although I could not read the manufacturer's name due to paint, I took a couple of photos of the name and then blew it up on my computer. Know that it was probably made by Merriman Yacht Specialties helped because I was then able to tell from one of the photoes that it is in fact a Merriman YS pedestal. Also, in my first post I should have mentioned I do not plan to put instruments on the guard, I just want to put a nice cockpit table on it. I noticed on EBay there are conversion brackets for Merriman pedestals to mount 1.25 inch guards. This leads me to my final question: Can I just use self tapping screws on the collars that attach to the cockpit floor at the bottom of the guard legs or are they drilled through the floor and fastened with bolts and nuts?

Here is kinda the table on my 34.. My guards are "splayed" at the bottom so it is a bit wider than some.. My table is a smidge too long.. I will be building a slightly shorter one in the future.. a slide out side or fold out side is a good idea too.. 1.25" is mighty big for a guard..I think mine is 1.125? or thereabouts?
