What does it mean to "follow" someone.

I follow several sub-forums on this site and there are a few people on this forum who's opinion I highly respect and so I clicked the "follow" button on their profiles. My thinking at the time was that I would get a notification anytime they published a post. But that does not seem to be the case. Was my thinking incorrect or do I need to set it up differently?

No, you thinking (I think) is correct. Following someone is like following a post or topic or (as you said) forum. But even I could be incorrect. We must wait for Fearless Leader to respond.

It's pretty lame. There is no notification at all, but their activity shows up under your "News Feed." Didn't know you had a News Feed? If you click on your user name (upper right corner) and you'll see a link for it. That's all it does.

We could blow that news feed up into full-frame, re-name it, and turn it into something else, possibly.

The 6pm news is actually a greet place to get a summary of the days (and overnight) twitland traffic.
