Water pump noise

Has anyone tamed the domestic water pump on the h356? I remounted it on a neoprene pad cut from an old wet suit and it still wants to wake the dead.

Try thicker foam rubber...at least a 1/2"

It's the pump that actually making all the noise...it's your hull resonating. If you can insulate it enough, you can quiet it down quite a bit. That may require moving the pump to a spot that doesn't resonate quite as well....'could be as little as a few inches. Just hunt around where there's room till it quiets down. There's no predicting where a hull will resonate, btw...or whether two identical boats will resonate in the same places...which is why the water pump on your boat makes enough noise to wake the dead, while someone else with the identical boat can barely hear his.

Free Floating Pump

This may not work for your installation, but I have found that the pumps quiet down quite a bit when they are "free floating" and not directly attached to the boat. By adjusting the various connecting hoses, both my domestic water pump and my macerator pump can be detached from the hard surfaces of their respective compartments. This greatly reduces the noise they generate throughout the boat. My domestic water pump "floats" on several layers of foam and produces only a dull humming noise when pumping. The large hoses in the holding tank compartment are strong enough to support the macerator pump.

Also count your pump chambers.

I HAD to buy a 2 chamber Jabsco pump in Antigua because NOTHING ELSE was available. (taxes) It caused howling in the hills. (from the dead) I escaped Antigua and bought a Shurflow in Trinidad and it is whisper quiet with no other changes. I forget how many chambers it has. Must be three. That two chamber pump is now on anchor wash duty.
