We have a passage 42.6, I would like to vent the engine compartment. Has anyone achieved this, if so how was it done.
My vessel has a similar setup, however the blower is in a small compartment opposite the engine room, there is no hose that goes to the engine room and no way that I can see to get a hose to that compartmentkd3pc said:my 1991 passage 42 has the blower installed, separate breaker at the panel...and for all practical purposes is a 4" dryer vent hose that runs from the lower part of the engine room to the port side and to the rear port storage lazzarette.
I would think that blower would be stock on your boat...
Thank you for that info. I will try and do the same setupjimlay said:Greeetings;
My Hunter has a blower that is mounted to the engine room wall and vented through a 4" dryer hose to small vent on the portside outside of the cockpit. When you do this operation be assured that the bottom of the engine room shares the bilge, so your air "intake" will come from the bilge and be vented out through the vent. The vent will then not only vent the engine room, but it vents the bilge as well....another good thing to do on a boat.
When I purchased my boat the surveyor was very helpful in providing information--one of the things that he mentioned was that venting the engine room reduces the temperature when running the engine which is good for engine operations. Lower intake air provides more efficient operations. so venting the engine room is a good choice all the way around.
Smooth Sailing--Aloha
