I've never been happy with the carpet covered 2x4 keel guides on my trailer. Decided to upgrade to something I hope will be more effective. Framework is build from some original parts, aluminum angle irons and stainless brackets. I'll cover the framework with PVC tube and maybe wrap that in carpet again. The frame that parallels the skid plate is about 6 inches higher than the lower end of the wooden guides were so I'm hoping it will do a better job of getting the keel on the plate.

If I may? I would suggest to you that you raise the guides up a lot, they might be a bit low....Gets a bit ugly if the keel is above the guides.

I had a bad experience trying to get the boat on the trailer in the wind/waves. Ended up with the keel on the wrong side of the guides. Was not able to bring the boat home that night. Ect.
My keel guides are now about 6 inches below the keel-hull junction. I would have made the guides at the back end of the trailer be even higher but wasn't thinking enough.
