So I am about to install the toe rail and wanted to make sure I am using the correct stuff. After checking out this awesome link on chin plates I find myself questioning if this the right stuff to use for my toe rail? Please look below for finished pictures of my rail and if you have any suggestions that would help.

My understanding that this butyl tape is the stuff I am needing?

Should I wrap each screw that I use on the toe rail with the tape as well before installation? Is it needed?

Can I use the same size screws to re install the toe rail or do I need to drill out the holes bigger or use bigger size screw for the installation like some do for chin plates? Just trying to do it right!!!

Maine Sails' Butyl Tape is the right choice for your toe rails. I would think that you would plug your original holes and if the material is strong enough, redrill the hole. Probably the best material would be chopped up fiberglass and resin forced into the holes. Once set, they should be able to support the screws.
