Dan Your picture was great. Your installation was my original intention until I started worrying about creating to big a tripping hazard. Since it works for you I might go back to it. I noticed in your pic that you are using the self tailing rings on your winches. How well do they work? Thanks, Paul Palmer

Self tailing rings

Paul, To be honest, I haven't really used them. I only had the boat for a little over a month before I shattered my collar bone, which ended my sailing season rather abruptly. Maybe someone else can give you better feedback. Thanks, Dan

Self tailing rings

I use self tailing rings on my O'Day 23. They require more attention to the wraps to make them actually self tail than a "real" self-tailing winch, but they are still a great add-on. Given the low price, you can't really go wrong by giving them a try. Don't forget one for the mast winch.
