At our marina we are right on the bay, have a pool and clubhouse, security parking lot with electric gate, floating docks and all the warm weather you can stand. Our slip is 40ft and we pay $240.00 per month plus electric. Tell us about your boat's home????

Hidden Harbor Marina

Our marina is right on the river (our sailing grounds). It is a private facility and is very nice. We pay $5.25/ft and that includes everything. No clubhouse or swimming pool. We are in fresh water so we swim in the harbor. We are about 50 miles from the S.F. bay area and about 75 miles from the Golden Gate. We have excellent security with the two owners living on-site there is 24 x 7 security. There is a key carded security gate so we have very little traffic. Our harbor is like many others on about 1/3 of the boats are used regularly, the remainder sit there and are very seldom if ever used. Everyone in the harbors knows everyone so when we see someone strange (present company included) questions are asked.

Sunroad Marina, San Diego

Wish we had your cost. Sunroad is a very nice marina concrete docks with slip boxes, pool, jacuzzi, gym, free (sorta) cable tv, fresh water, its own pumpout station, deli, ect. All this for only $12.00 a foot or $ 530 a month for a 45' slip. Ya I know. Trouble is the are virtually no slips over 25' available in San Diego. The old supply and demand economics at work. The marina has about 500 slips with all leased and a 6 month waiting list.

Condomania

I keep my boat in a small marina owned by a condo on Biscayne bay. Facilities are somewhat limited (no pumpout, club or ice). Pay $235 for my 35', which is about $100 less than the going rate at most marinas in Miami. I work downtown Miami and I can get from work to boat in less than 10 min., and be out sailing in Biscayne Bay in another 10. Works for me.

The Channel Club

We are at The Channel Club Marina in Monmouth Beach, NJ. Faclities include fuel dock with pump out station, bathrooms with showers (both near our dock and at the pool!), pool, pool bar (even better than the pool), ice, small chandlery, service and repair facility (including an independednt "fiberglass guy" based out of the marina), restaurant with takeout deli section and bar. In addition to electricity and water, the dock also has connections for phone and cable TV. We can walk to ocean beach, supermarket, liquor store and restaurants. Also only a short drive to major retailers, such as West Marine, Boaters World, Home Depot, Barnes and Noble, etc. There are also several live-aboards during the season, a full time dock master and assistant as well as several dock boys, after hours security guards and random patrols by the local bike cops, so safety and security has not been a concern. The downside? $90 per foot for the season (approx March 1 to December 1), lots of non-boater traffic from the restaurant so walking accross the parking lot and parking can both be adventures) and we need to go under 2 draw bridges to get to open water and in the summer they operate on a schedule that always requires a wait. Overall, we've been here 3 seasons and have no intention of looking around for a new place.

Cost is relative, but...

what isn't? :) We pay $75. a foot annually. But how to compare? We are in the water from mid-April to mid-October. The fee covers everything: launch, 45-foot slip, electric, water, pumpout, haulout, bottom washing, and winter storage(mast up on own cradle). There's fuel, ice, small chandlery, limited security, parking, nice people, and good mechanics. No pool, very short drive(moderate walk) to beach and restaurants. We are on a river less than one mile from open water(Lake Erie). That's Harbor North in Huron, OH.
