I want to run a feed for the new masthead wind speed indicator and I wonder if anyone has done that by running it down the mast and thru the post by opening the aft section of the compression post for access on a 30'

Drill a hole

In the spring I re-wired my mast and ran some new wires thru the compression post on my '77 C30. I drilled a hole about an inch or so at the bottom of the post (in the head). I was about to snake the wires out of this hole using a small piece of stiff wire. You can later plug the hole.

So,did it work ok?

I have a 77 Cat 39 hull # 593. I want to add new wires to the mast next season. this means that I need to bring them into the cabin area. So i am interested in how to get them thru the compression post. additionally, the wires would have to be passed thru the mast step on the cabin top. Any problem drilling this passage? Thanks.
